The art of using hollow tubes to clear the ears goes back many centuries. Races such as the Mayans used pottery cones in which herbs were placed and the Egyptians used similar pottery cones plus hollow reeds from the Nile. The Druids are recorded as using ear cnaldes along with many parts of Europe, plus the Hopi North American Indians have passed down the art for many years.
What are Ear Candles?
Complete Health & Harmony P/L candles are hollow tubes of a longer length than others on the market and are designed to use with a small cone. Only the best of ingredients are used in the hand crafting of our candles.
What a Treatment Involves
The client is made comfortable lying on one side on a massage table. Our trained therapist will create a relaxing environment, with music playing and oils burning.
The therapist will light one of the unique design "cut and tap" candles that is then insterted in a holding cone, and placed in the outer ear canal where a seal is formed. The client will experience a gentle warmth and find the sound of the flame burning rather comforting as it creates a sense of clarity/wellbeing.
The candle and cone are removed every five minutes or so, to "cut and tap" and returned to the ear. This ensures that no residue enters the ear canal. Once the ear candle has burnt down to an indicated level, it is extinguished in a bowl of water and the outer ear is cleaned of any debris. The same procedure is then carried out in the other ear.
During your ear candling, the therapist may incorporate a gentle facial massage. You will find after your treatment a sense of clarity/wellbeing and relaxation may be experienced. Ear drops are highly recommended to use daily after ear candling.
More than one treatment may be required for people suffering from syptoms such as sinus, hayfever, swimmers ear, allergies, dizziness, headaches, sore throat, ringing in ears, loss of hearing, ear aches, ear discharge, excessive wax, migraines or perforated ear drum.
What Precautions Should be Taken
There is a lot more to ear candling than simply placing a candle in an ear. This is why all therapists are trained to use candles, especially as these are a unique design.
Our trained therapists are here to advise you and answer any questions you may have, as there are a few reasons as to why you may not be ready to proceed straight away with an ear candling, such as infection, burst ear drum or ear drains (grommets).
Ear candling is good for children as well as adults, even the very elderly.
